There are too many styles of music to have a best. Also people need to think outside the box of pop culture to find greats. Popcrapular has the least skilled guitarists.

Jimi Hendrix was the most influential. Best is a matter of taste. EVH was very technical and can do anything but he just doesnt have that soul! As far as having that soul....definately Stevie Ray Vaughan!

There are so many truly great guitarists but among my favourites are Jimi Hendrix Ritchi Sambora Mark Knopfler John Five Eric Clapton Carlos Santana the list is endless, and I am so sorry I can't give you just one, it would be so unfair of me to do so.

Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was amazing with the guitar, and it's a shame he died in 1990. I don't think anybody could replace him.
