For a Democrat to have any chance at winning the Presidency, they must win a good portion of the South to capture the Electoral College. This means that a Democrat must be significantly ahead in Nationwide polls. If Republicans are so unpopular, why are McCain and Guiliani over 15% ahead, at a minimum, of every potential Democratic candidate in every single Nationwide poll. Does America distrust Democrats in the White House because of Carter and Clinton? By 2008, Republicans will have controlled the White House for 28 of the last 40 years. Now, it's going to end up being 36 out of 48.

You can't win with JUST the Southern states and the Republicans, if you didn't notice last November, have lost in the industrial North, the Midwest and the Western states. If more Senate seats were up for re-election the Republicans would have lost even more seats.

After Bush and the last GOP Congress it will take a lot for America to trust Republicans again. If ever.

This would be a good time for the Libertarian Party to run a candidate.

If the polls show McCain and Guiliani that far ahead its probably because there are more democratic candidates so the democratic vote is split between more people making it appear that the republicans have and advantage.

Actually, Democrats don't have to win the South. They just need to win every state they won in 2004... plus Ohio. The last two presidential elections were decided by one state, so I wouldn't say they have no chance.

Giuliani's going to have some problems winning over the pro-life, pro-Protestant crowd.

1. At this stage, polls mean nothing. Both people you note have greater name recognition than the Democrats at this point. That can change. Plus there are a lot of Hillary haters out there.

2. America has already proven how stupid it can be by electing Bush twice, (or at least having the elections close enough so that he could steal it twice.) So I wouldn't be surprised to see the idiocy continue.

while i check out Hillary and Obama I see no person i could decide to be president. while i check out Rudy Giuliani I see a guy i think of could make a great president. i'm much less enthusiastic with McCain yet in comparison to Hillary and Obama, i could vote for him if he's the nominee. Your statements on Carter and Clinton are so real.

Always willing to distort real life by spouting propoganda, while ignoring all logic and common decency. You must be a real conservative, not one of the fake ones that actually listens to someone else. There is NO WAY the Republicans can steal a 3rd election in a row.

Religious Southern conservatives will not vote for either of those candidates because they are too liberal on social / "values" issues. UNLESS it is the lesser of two evils -- the Democrats have a chance if they choose their candidate carefully.

It really doesn't matter at this point of the game.

Right now, the polls only show name recognition rather than anything else.

The only poll that matters will be held on November 4th, 2008.

Why do you keep saying this. It is totally false. I asked a question for you to cite these polls and you convienently didn't answer it. You have made this up. Come back to reality or go away.

so sorry to disagree with you, but if the south insists on represengint the 'deliverance' branch of the republican party, they can very easily be outflanked.

just because this has not been done in RECENT elections, does nto mean that it has not and can not be done again.
