You can now buy system that record your favorite shows/movies minutes in advance and remove the commercials. I'm a little hard of hearing and have to turn up the volume to hear voices. However, canned laughter and other louder noises become too loud, as well as commercials. Is there a way to adjust the decibel level to turn down loud noises over the voice level? Hearing aides do not work because it only makes the louder noises worse.

Sometimes S.A.P. eliminates the background applause. Have you tried that yet?

Turn the radio up or the tv off.
