The guy who answered before me is a nitwit. B'ham's airport is incredibly easy to get in and out of. I travel on biz all the time, and it's very convenient. Memphis and Atlanta are both three hours from Tuscaloosa.

It really depends on what you mean by MAJOR airport. It would likely be most convenient to fly into Birmingham (BHM), which is about an hour away. That still isn't an especially large airport, though. The nearest major hub airports would be Memphis (MEM) and Atlanta (ATL), which are in no way convenient to Tuscaloosa. You will, however, likely transfer at one or the other to get to your destination.

There is Tuscaloosa Regional Airport but they don't have commercial airline service anymore (used to have Delta and American Eagle, but they stopped service there).

The closest airport with commercial airlines would be Birmingham International (BHM). http://www.bhamintlairport.com/

B'ham is about 55 miles, 1 hour from Tuscaloosa.
