First, how do you know that most drug dealers live with their mothers? Did you take a survey, or do you have connections like that?

But seriously, if this is accurate, I think the reason is b/c drug dealers in general are not responsible people, so living with their mothers is SAFE for them. All in all, it's about taking the easy way out.

If "most" is accurate, I'd imagine a great number of them (that I've seen) were under aged kids or early 20's and didn't actually know how or have the option of moving out on their own. Also, to lease apartments or buy homes you need some sort of credit history, and whatever you put down as income will have to be backed up come tax season, which tends to raise flags as to how you're affording a condo and you have no job or source of income. You also have to take into account what drug dealers look like, its almost like a uniform. The clothes, the tricked out cars, the jewelry and the expensive electronics that they fill their rooms (in their moms basement) up with costs a lot of money. Usually as soon as they get the money they spend it on frivolous things, which is one of the reasons they're drug dealers. They have a misguided since of need, mainly focused on materialism and not even the disgust of poisoning their own communities will keep them from Sean John and "spinners".

They like to live free .No bills to pay no worries. If I was a parent of a drug dealer or user they wouldn't be living in my house I don't care how old they are. I would put their a$$ out on the streets where they belong.

They don't have enough money to get their own places. Economist Steven Leavitt explores this question in his book "Freakonomics". He cites the experiences of a graduate student, Venkatesh, who studied drug dealer economics firsthand, living in the projects and interviewing people:

"In other words, a crack gang works pretty much like the standard capitalist enterprise: you have to be near the top of the pyramid to make a big wage. Notwithstanding the leadership's rhetoric about the family nature of the business, the gang's wages are about as skewed as wages in corporate America. A foot soldier had plenty in common with a McDonald's burger flipper or a Wal-Mart shelf stocker. In fact, most of J. T.'s foot soldiers also held minimum-wage jobs in the legitimate sector to supplement their skimpy illicit earnings."

Your Mother will lie to keep you out of jail, hide your drugs, help spend your money, and be an alibi for you. Based on the fact she knows you are a drug dealer.

I don't really know, as such, but it would be practical wouldn't you say Ricky

Average income of a drug dealer is only $6,000. If that's the only income they have, it won't keep them in hamburgers so forget about paying rent.

How can you fill out an application for an apartment or a house.and put down "drug-dealer" for your occupation.

They want to know where you got your money.
