If you had the choice for omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence, would you take that? If God came to you and said, "I give up all of my responsibilities. Good luck," would you take it or leave it? Why? Personally, I would hate to be God, but let's hear some other opinions....

The greatest thing about asking a philosophical question is that is is purely hypothetical. Most people who have answered already are avoiding this and telling me about my stupidity (either because they are overzealous religious fanatics or because they don't believe in God at all). You see, children, the theory behind a hypothetical question is that it does not HAVE to happen. So, I'm looking for an answer that tells me if a person would or would not want to be an all-knowing, all-powerful, everpresent God, despite what religion you may think is right. Hell, with all of these ignorant answers, I'd settle for a yes or a no right now...

In spite of the omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence (or perhaps because of it all), I don't think it would be much fun being God. I think it would prove to be all too frustrating.
At any given time you'd have a very large portion of humanity, working in shifts, making promises to you that would not be kept, second-guessing you decisions, imploring you to re-write the laws of nature, praying to you to allow the particular team they are rooting for to win the Super Bowl, praying for you to strike down their enemies, trying to make slick bargains with you so that you will grant their petty wishes, not to mention their constant kvetching...............Who needs this, I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

When I was a little girl I imagined that I had in my room these little people. I would imagine making things for them, houses cars, toys, fun things. In a weird way, I was their god.
Now, mmmm it would be a lot of responsiblitlity, but I could surround myself with some Good entities and delegate, keeping an eye out.
I would get rid of poverty and give everyone the opportunity to learn what ever they wanted. They wouldn't have to pay for any kind of education. If someone wanted to be a painter or poet, they could undertake that with any education they wanted. If they like to work mechanically they would have the education and opportunities to do that. If some wanted to be astrounauts, they could do that.
If they got bored after 10 or 20 years of doing that and wanted to start on a new interest they could do that, all expensives paid.
I would also bestow immortalitiy so they could live forever and have all the time in the world to explore as much as they would want.
If I lived under that kind of Godship I think I'd want to explore the Universe, be an artist and study physics. If I were God, that would be possible for anyone
I would remove hate from the human mind . I would replace it with great curiosity and enthusiatm for life in all its glory.
Welll, that was fun. Fun question. :)

Probably yes. If as described the power would be absolute in all ways, this would allow me to both have my cake and eat it. I could do what I think a god should do and still live my life the way I see fit. Considering that my interpretation of what a god does is much more 'hands off' than the popular conceptions, I could make whatever changes or tweaks I considered appropriate, keep an eye out for new developments of My creation, and go about my usual life with equanimity. Most importantly, I could enact my will in certain areas that I believe would be generally beneficial, just and positive and thus make for a 'better' (in my eyes) reality.
A better question might be, why WOULDN'T you want to be God?

Everyone wants to be God to a certain extent, but no one realizes how vast the power and knowledge is. Even your concept of omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence is still wrapped in terms of this world, since the powers would be granted to an Earthling...unfortunately, those powers are infinitely vast and to bestow them on a finite creature would overload its circuitry.
If God came to me and said, "Yo man, you want this job?" I would have to ask about the dental plan...because apparently there was a reason he wanted to drop it...that is to say, apparently I would NEED luck, even though I had those powers. That in itself is a conundrum to me, and it is bothersome.
But on the otherhand, would I want to be God?
I am.
Yahweh means "To be"; therefore God is Time. I am one with Time and possibility. I am God.

NO.
It's much better to play Sims 2, being God would be too irritating.

Good sir, I am a god. I know, call me Satanist or something else most wouldn't know the truth about, but I truly am. I'm my own god, and I love it. So there is no wanting about it, I am god.

It depends. If I had to be the God of christian faith, probably not. But if I could be a bruce all mighty God, that might be fun.

I wouldn't want to be god, he has way to many responsibilities. I wouldn't want people to hate me because I didn't answer their prayers
