First off, strictly speaking our government is a democratic republic, not purely democratic. Second, we tried that, and England wanted to tell us how (and whether, I know some people don't even want to) to worship, and they levied taxes on us that we didn't get to vote on, so, no thanks. Besides, the Royalty is mostly for show these days. All the ruling is done by Parliament.
