What do glasses have to do with being sociable? If people don't want to talk to you because you wear glasses, then maybe you don't want to talk with them anyway. I've worn glasses for many years and that hasn't stopped me from being social at all. Get out there and mix it in with the crowd and have some fun.

I read a book last year that recommended that people who have 'people' oriented jobs like sales people and fundraisers don't wear glasses as this puts a barrier between you and the people that you are talking to.

It sounded a bit rubbish to me, but clearly some people have this view.

If one was self-conscious about the glasses that would hinder social interaction I suppose. It isn't much fun to get all dressed up and then have to put on glasses, but it shouldn't stop anyone from being sociable.

I'm convinced mine help hid the bags under my eyes.

Eye glasses? If that's what you talking about then no they don't. Nothing should stop anyway from being sociable.

Glasses are easier, of course: all you need to do is to stick them on your nose. But it is no secret that people hate their glasses. Not wearing them will helps you to feel more attractive and sociable, and raise your self-esteem.

No way!
If anything they make me MORE sociable! People assume that I'm intelligent and they always want to talk to me.
Without them I wouldn't get noticed half as much, exactly the reason I refuse to wear contacts!

It shouldn't.

It depends on your own confidence and self-esttem. I have worn glasses since I started school, but in all honesty I am more confident and self-assured when I am wearing my contact lenses.

I know there are some lovely styles of frames out there in comparisons to years ago, but I don't hink all attitudes towards them have changed.

Both my children have glasses and both still have some trouble at school because of them. By other children, not their own self-esteem as I do praise and encourage them as much as I can but have assured them they can both have lenses when they are old enough to care for them.

Not at all. It may just be an excuse to avoid being sociable though.

Psychologically, absolutely not. Physically, glasses can be an encumbrance for some activities. I wear my glasses most of the time, but have contacts as well.
