"The economy of India is the fourth largest in the world as measured by purchasing power parity (PPP), with a gross domestic product (GDP) of US $3.666 trillion.[1] When measured in USD exchange-rate terms, it is the tenth largest in the world, with a GDP of US $902.0 billion (2007).[1] India is the second fastest growing major economy in the world, with a GDP growth rate of 9.2% at the end of the second quarter of 2006–2007.[2] However, India's huge population results in a per capita income of $3400 at PPP and $714 at nominal.[1] The World Bank classifies India as a low-income economy.[3]
The economy is diverse and encompasses agriculture, handicrafts, textile, manufacturing, and a multitude of services. Although two-thirds of the Indian workforce still earn their livelihood directly or indirectly through agriculture, services are a growing sector and are playing an increasingly important role of India's economy. The advent of the digital age, and the large number of young and educated populace fluent in English, is gradually transforming India as an important 'back office' destination for global companies for the outsourcing of their customer services and technical support. India is a major exporter of highly-skilled workers in software and financial services, and software engineering."- Wikipedia
I don't think they are in a decline, though they do still face tremendous poverty. Investments there are growing, I think the outlook is going up hill- not down for India.
"Goldman Sachs has predicted that India will become 3rd largest economy of the world by 2035 based on predicted growth rate of 5.3 to 6.1%. Currently India is registering more than 8% growth rate"- Wikipedia

India IS becoming a developed nation, some areas doing very well, other areas strugging to learn. They are not declining they are inclining. In fact they are the 2nd in the world (China 1st) with regard to computers. Bangalore is much like our Silicon Valley. There are still poor areas riddled with bad water, failing crops, lack of money for education and lack of infrastructure, kids in garbage heaps pulling out unused food, no industry or outside income (so those areas farm but don't grow), flooding, aids, etc. Mainly their government is responsible to help them, and they have sects and tribes that don't get along with each other. Some loans get corrupted. And, part of India is still run by the communist party.

no longer by ability of 2025 it particularly is purely too quickly in my view. First of there are nevertheless a large number of those that are no longer waiting to study & write, i could say in a developped u . s . a . no longer less than ninety 5% of the every person is literate. In India the litteracy costs approximately 60% on the 2d (approximately 70% adult males and 50% women individuals). additionally the poverty point is large: approximately 25% of Indians are under poverty line. it is authentic that India produces a large number of intense high quality engineers, that it has very gifted human beings and ressources yet there continues to be a large number of artwork to be performed and that i enormously doubt it would desire to be "complete" by ability of 2025. one concern is beneficial although: it ordinarily relies upon on politics. If India had a solid, smart, ordinary governement then it could grow to be a developped u . s . a . very quickly because of the fact in assessment to different international locations India has what it takes to grow to be an extremely wealthy and useful u . s . a ..

Both the person who said India is the new Japan and "i dig josh" are right. However to just extend on the answer. India is growing but it will happen very slow becuase they have the second most populated country in the world and that obviously creates problems for a developing country.
