Yes, that's it. You hit the nail on the head.
WTF are you talking about?!? Didn't Murtha say our troops can't win in Iraq? (True, as long as we're fighting a PC war - we need to engage those fanatics on their terms) That *might* have something to do with it. Kerry - his record post-Vietnam speaks for itself. He LIED about his fellow soldiers, in front of Congress.
But I forgot - only Democrats are truly free to express themselves. Everyone else is "wrong" if we don't goose step to the left's agenda.
And for the record, I'm a conservative Libertarian.

lets be honest... no politician alive has really fought ina war.
clinton got out of it asap
bush got out of it asap... im not listing those names because they are republican, if i cared enough i could find some democrat names just as easily.. these 2 pop up in my mind because they were the 2 most recent presidents..
lets be honest now, politicians are cowards in the face of war, have been sense eisenhower. Its just how it is. Its not like we NEED them in war.. 1 more person in the army wont make that big of a deal. You dont need to go into war to know whats best for a war. thats debatable in certain cases, but in the current troop surge case, its not. doesnt take a 10 year vet to know that this is necessary.
Kerry used his purple hearts to gain support and used them to gain a celeb status. That's unpatriotic and makes other vets sick. He got out of the war by a bullet scratching his arm as it passed him, while other people got their purple hearts by losing a leg, or 2.
Personally, i would rather someone NOT have a purple heart, then someone who used their purple heart to gain something.
A true patriot would never mention the purple hearts. Thats a person worth respect.
BTW: amen, motherof4 =)
sorry if that was a bit hard to understand.. my add is kicking in loll... hopefully you get what im trying to say tho.

Nobody bashed them for their military service, liar. But some of their misrepresentations about their service need more scrutiny.
Kerry's "heroism" was disputed by people who served alongside him, not to mention his traitorous actions with his lies to congress and his collaborations with the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong after his 3 month stint.
Cleland was roughed up a little by Ann Coulter because the fact that his injuries were due to an accident, rather than in battle, but he'd not spent any time correcting the public perception that they were battle wounds.
And they're bashed for their idiotic anti-American bloviating leftist claptrap since then.
And I hardly think Dems are more patriotic. Tell us about YOUR service...

I bash Murtha for one thing - insisting before all the facts came in that the Marines involved in the Haditha incident were all guilty of murder. As the facts have come in it looks a lot more gray than that, and you shouldn't pass judgment without the facts in any circumstance, much less when people who lay their lives on the line for us are the ones being charged.

They only bring out their record which the Dems are scared of and deny. Dems commonly change their view and act as if they never had the original viewpoint. IE voting for the war, then changing their mind on it, or Wanting a troop surge and now being against it.
If you want to say republicans are bashing them please provide and example, just saying they bash has not meaning without some example to back up your statement.

Oh its just something about how all those people are invested in defeat. If they wanted to win this war, then yeah, I'd at least respect them. But leaders of this country who want us to lose? No way, thats pathetic.
Vote Hunter in 2008, his son's in Iraq right now, and he served as well

Because that is all they have, what worries me worse is how these people buy this like it was a piece of chocolate candy. They are either mentally deficient or they have no morals. Here are real war hero's not chicken hawks, people that actually served and not people that evaded the draft and didn't even finish their commitment to the air guard, and they vilify them for doing it.

Paul from my experience as an ex navy man there are by far more repubs in the military. I don't belong to either party and generally do not bash either but one of the people you list as an example is IMO guilty of treason and should have been convicted.

Personally, I don't bash Kerry over his military service.
He does enough on his own as a Senator to make him look foolish.
The other two aren't even on my radar scope.

They have to attack these veterans (most of those you mentioned are also decorated) because they know they are a threat. Just like when all those retired generals criticized Bush and Rumsfeld, suddenly, they spent a lot of energy making sound like it wasn't significant (when it was in fact unprecedented).
