Chemically, it's just another form of carbon. It'll burn.

Diamond is a special type of coal(carbon). It is the easiest fuel to burn just like coal. Except it is very expensive to burn. You certainly would not want to burn one.

Yeah. Not saying it'll be easy... diamond in air burns at 800 C (1472 F). Or it'll decompose if you heat it in vacuum or inert gas to 2700 F. Even below these temperatures you will begin to see damage to the surface.

Yes, they burn diamonds at the Kimberly Diamond Mine regularly to keep the price up... It s the scarcity that Maintains the value (the more diamonds on the market, the less valuable they become).

It won't really melt but it can cloud up. My mom's original engagement diamond was damaged while being placed in a platinum setting and the jeweler had to replace it.

Yes, it will burn, to make carbon dioxide. So, don't hide your diamonds in the fireplace.

Since a diamond is stable at extreme temperatures and pressures, it probaly is burning but at an extremely slow rate. Those covalent bonds are extremely strong. It will last for millions of years probably.

Definitely not....it is the hardest stone in the world..it will not chip , melt, or be damaged in any way. It takes a diamond edged tool to cut diamonds for jewelry.
