There are several ways in which you can do it. You can use mstsc.exe which is a microsoft software which would allow you to take contral of the remote machine and work on it.

Start > Run and type mstsc and click ok

Type the IP address of the name of the computer you wish to control

You can work on the remote system as if working on your local system.

If you want to use Third Party tools you can try VNC or Remote Administrator which can be downloaded from www.download.com

Both the softwares needs to be running in both the systems.

If you just want to start and stop services on network computers.

Right click on the local computer and select manage
Right click on the local computer name and select connect to another computer and type the ipaddress or computer name

Now the manage menu of the remote computer would be available and you can start and stop services etc.

Remember all of the above needs administrator rights on both the systems

If you're using Windows XP pro, remote connectivity software is built in. Instructions for using it are included with the computer's Help files, under the Start menu.
