My laptop has bluetooth and I'd like to be able to have internet access where ever I go. Do I need to subscribe to another internet service? I already have a provider for my pc at home.

Assuming you're in the U.S. check out Verizon's plans for BroadbandAccess. This is not the only plan out there but it's the one I use and have been pretty happy with it. The idea is you buy a PCMCIA card (like the V620) to install in your laptop, and you can think of it as getting wireless Internet access just about anywhere you would get a cell phone signal. It doesn't operate over the cellular network, but the coverage areas are about the same just to give you an idea. It might NOT work in SOME areas.. They have coverage maps you can look at. Speeds in my experience have been pretty good, as high as 1.2Mbps. The card might cost you $150 and the service is roughly $50/month. So you'll have to make good use of it to justify the cost. Of course the alternative is hunting for wifi hotspots, which are becoming much more popular especially in your average bookstore, library, coffee shop, sandwich shops and hotels in vacation spots.
