Seriously: Is there a correct direction to wipe your rear?

I am being serious...do you wipe from the front or from the back? And, what are the reasons for one way being preferred over the other? I was thinking about this because I'll soon be potty training a little boy and I recall having heard someone before mention there was a "correct" way.

That's a very good question. It's something I never thought about until recently, until having to help my geriatric mother out in this regard. It was more to do with do you do it with your hand from the front, or swing it round and do it from the back. I asked loads of people, and it turned out I'd been doing it wrong all my life, and the 'correct' way is to swing your hand to the back and wipe from front to back. I don't know who decided this was correct though, it seems to me the most important thing is to get it clean.

As long as you're clean I really can't see it matters, it's not as if you're going to make a public fax pas, is it? Not as if people will be pointing and sniggering.

whatever works for you to get the **** off your bung hole. but if your female,front to back. no guy wants a smelly choda when he's taking a snack befor dinner. a little boy on the other hand dont matter. guys dont care what they smell like down there. the main thing is get it clean one way or the other!

Unless you're a woman. I don't see why with a guy. A woman wants to stay away from wiping back to front...if you can guess why...

Because if you wipe from back to front, you are speading the bacteria from the anus to the sex glands. It's much more sanitary to do it the opposite way.

yep, I see no reason why a guy can't wipe any way he wants... but it seems normal to just wipe front to back.

front to back so you don't 'sweep' germs into the urethra.
