Unfortunately it depends on your baby. My daughter would only take avent nipples. I had a few different kinds from the baby shower and it was the only ones she accepted. I like Avent...but sometimes the cap doesn't screw on right. I noticed this with my daughter and with a baby I used to babysit. Dr. Browns has good ratings, but my friends baby didn't do well with Dr. Browns and she ended up using Playtex. I think it depends on whether your baby has gas issues, then you might want a bag to insert in the bottle to reduce gas, some babies have nipple confusion, like my daughter. If you haven't had your baby yet I suggest getting a few different brands and trying them out instead of buying a whole feeding system that may not work for your baby.

I started using platex comfi' with my baby, but then she started getting gassy when wic made us change her formula, so we switched to ventaire and put two drops of infant gas drops in her bottle, it gets rid of the bubbles in the bottle and her belly. I had to throw out my advent bottle I got as a sample, it leaked all over her all the time. The drop ins are price comparable to the doctor browns by the time you buy all the liners. The best bottles on a budget are definitely the ventaire, but go with dr. brown's if baby is colicky. I'd say get a couple of the small bottles of each kind you will consider, and see how baby reacts after each one, then go with the kind that works best for you. That way you don't spend $10 a bottle for some features your particular child doesn't even need. Good luck and enjoy your new baby!

you know, i have 3 kids, and im pretty cheap when it comes to certain things. my first daughter came when i was young and couldnt really afford the "good" stuff, so i used i think plain gerber bottles. i think they were $4 for 6 bottles. worked great, she wasnt fussy, etc. now after 2 more, i stuck with that. i almost did the advent and dr browns just because i could. but its a status thing. i know the cheaper brands work just fine, but when you see a baby drinking from the name brand bottles, its a status thing. would you buy wrangler jeans, or lucky brand jeans if they felt the same to you. thats what you have to consider. id say try the cheaper ones, use that extra money on a nice pair of shoes for the baby or something, and if they seem to gassy, or fussy, then maybe try the other bottles. remember, all babies have bad fussy days, our mothers never had the fancy air tight bottles, etc. and we all survived, right! whats your status, think about it.

Browns are the best if you are concerned about gas however if you are travelling is another story I would use playtex drop ins for convience and purchase ready made formula. All you would be worried about is clean nipples for the playtex bottle & a can opener. I use to feed my baby before leaving the hotel room and wash out all the nipples before going on a long trip.

Dr. Browns bottles are awesome. They really prevent gas and colic. They are a little more difficult to clean and get ready but making your new baby as comfortable as possible is always important! Good Luck

I've used Drop-Ins, Ventaire and Avent. Ventaire works pretty well and I liked the angle/no bubbles. Kind of a pain to wash but you get over it if it prevents gas...now I use Avent and LOVE them. Great for gas and very easy to handle/clean.

My son is now seven months, and I'm still using Dr.Brown bottles. They work great. They help to reduce gas,and although they take a little bit more time to clean, they are definately worth it.
