I have always thought he was an idiot, but this just takes the cake. AP is reporting that he told Congress that HE gets to decide our war policy in Iraq, and that Congress needs to tow the line. If you have to tell your troops that you are the leader, I guess you are not much of a leader.

Someone of you are missing the point. We all know his role vs. Congress when it comes to declarations of war, and sending troops. And I agree that he has guts to stand by what he believes. What makes me laugh is the fact that he feels he has to remind Congress that he is the "decider". Why do that?

Actually he does get to decide and that is set forth in the US Constitution. They congress gave him the vote of power to send troops and so now he calls the shots. Congress has very limited options at this point but they can stop funds. Congress will not stop funds because they would be committing political suicide for the danger it would put our troops in. As far as Bush's leadership abilities he does have some. He is decisive and stands strong even when put under pressure and those are great signs of true leadership. Giving in in order to make oneself more liked is not a skill of a true leader but it is a trademark of a coward.

No he has not. While calling himself a "Decider" may sound a little weird, I am okay with it. I would rather have a President that wants to step up to the plate and take charge instead of one who lets power be sold to the highest bidder in Congress. There is no doubt that this war has seriously gone wrong, and it makes me sick. But at least Bush is willing to stick it out, unlike a wishy- washy Democrat who would back down as soon as the tide changes for the worst. He may not appear to be the brightest or most articulate president we have ever had, but at least his intentions are in the right place. He sees the conflict brewing in the Middle East, and knows that if he does not take charge and do something about it, no one ever will.

That so called impromptu press convention he held Monday became no longer the pinnacle of human expression. the difficulty is he takes on greater jobs than his place demands. If he basically caught to the worry-loose "shelter and shield the form? like he swore to do interior the Oath of workplace. Then existence could be less difficult for each individual. What gets me is journalists desirous to sensationalize each nuance of Mr Bush's existence ask absurd questions. Like while will the troops come homestead from Iraq. Any fool knows the troops won't in any respect bypass away Iraq or Germany or Japan. that's going to alter right into a widespread remote places base and accountability station, basically like countless the different US bases. fortress Hood Texas, fortress Bush Iraq, no enormous deal. bypass enormous pink bypass

He was pointing out the fact that they have no authority to dictate war strategies, which they have been trying to do.

Congress is only able to write the checks, and there is a big debate over whether they have the power to cut financial support of a war effort after they have already granted it.
