Yeah, Simon is lucky he wasn't lynched. Attacking sausage in Milwaukee is considered sacriledge. Like insulting the Pope in Vatican City. I think the only reason he escaped with his life is that he attacked the Italian Sausage. Had he molested the Bratwurst in any way, I'm not sure there would have been enough security at the ballpark to stop the angry, rampaging, revenge minded Milwaukee crowd.

Not a big deal, but the Sausage Race is actually held between the sixth and seventh innings.
Fun note, though: Fans wore T-shirts after that that said "You Can't Beat Our Meat".
