As above, but there is no point in checking the IMEI. If the phone is cloned, they will clone the IMEI too.

An original Nokia has a silver tamper-proof seal with blue Nokia writings. If you are buying a new phone and that seal is broken or missing, you can assume the phone has been used/switched.

There's a serial number on every phone (IMEI). You can call Nokia and ask them to verify the IMEI. It's written both on the box and on the phone itself.

Also, depends where you are buying the phone from - a retail store will almost certainly carry authentic products, but when buying on eBay you must be careful.
