I've heard that spiders won't bite the ground they walk on so one could say, let a spider walk over her hand or w/e... is this true?

Haven't heard that one, but:

"What you need to understand is that spiders don't just go up and bit people. When people do get bitten it is usually because the spider feels threatened and is trying to protect itself. "

I know -- my one bad spider bite came from my accidentally sitting on one that was resting on my beach chair! OUCH!!

Spiders DO bite & they don't do it from a distance, they are usually standing right on you when they do it. Even little tiny spiders can leave some really nasty ( medical help needed) bites. I know, I've had 1. My hand & arm swelled huge, turned very red & itched & ached at the same time. Be very carefull around all spiders & areas where spiders might live.
