I got 3 pairs of low-cut jeans for $1.00 at a benefit yard sale, and they fit better than any jeans I've bought in a retail store in the last 10 years. I have gotten much more than $1.00 worth of wear out of them!

I bought two Ektelon brand racquetball rackets for $5 total from a goodwill thrift store. Both were still in new shape. They retail for over $100 each.
I also once was standing in line behind a couple who didn't have enough cash for their dinner. I bought them dinner and they sat with me and talked....it was one the best investments in myself I ever made. They had tremendous insight and I became their friend.

A pair of deerskin weight lifting/biking gloves, with cut off finger tips; 20$. These were heavy duty gloves - really really thick leather.
Saved me from a world of pain when I was biking everyday during the summer, and working with lawn care equipment for hours every other day. After the season I looked back at them, and noticed all the holes rubbed through them from all the friction. Good thing I had them, or my hands would be one huge callus.
Usually you'd finish a day, and your hands would be red and raw. With these gloves, I felt fine.

Okay. This might sound kinda weird, but I recently bought a Farberware garlic press for $8. I love to cook and I love garlic, so that would have to be the best (inexpensive) thing I've ever purchased. :-)

Pony rides for a penny for my kids at the grocery store. They love doing that so it is money well spent and entertainment doesn't get much cheaper than that.

I'd have to say penny candy from SINES 5and10. The store closed recently, oh well.
