how to check if someones ur true friend or not?

Seriously,
is there anything you can do (talking, asking a favor ..etc) to find out if someones your true friend or not ?
im not talkin about best friends, but true friends are good enough
or u can just give a past story of how you know someones ur real friend

you cant really, just let time take its course, you might get hurt but thats the best, and worst, way to learn in life.
