Is there a lot of different things to do? I'm going with my Mom and she likes the cultural stuff. I do too but not as much. I'm more into nightlife and the beach. Are any of the other keys nice as well and what are the beaches like in Key West?

Key West isn't really known for beach life. It's more a night life kind of place. Every night is a Friday night. Check out La Concha Inn, it's in the middle of all the action, and affordable. We stayed there when we got married, and many of our guests did too. http://www.laconchakeywest.com/ If you want more upscale, try Casa Marina. If you want more low key, check out the bed and breakfast inns. Key West does have a lot of interesting things and history. Curry mansion, Audubon house, Hemingway's house....interesting churches. There is also a boat tour to the dry tortugas that might be fun. Rent some scooters or bikes to get around. Sunset is BEAUTIFUL...get to Mallory Square, enjoy the street entertainers...and relax. Lots of good places to eat...stay away from the commericial places like Hard Rock.

Again, don't waste your time on the beaches or snorkeling. There are better places for that.

Also, in the middle keys, there is a resort--Cheeca Lodge. http://www.cheeca.com/index.asp. It's in Islamorada, which isn't as WILD as Key West. Maybe 1.5-2 hour drive to Key West. It's less touristy....and more low-key.
