I read that he as suppose to appear in The Da Vinci Code, but the role went to Paul Bettany, who played the role of Silas.

David, I have to respectfully disagree. I think the David Tennant is horrible as Doctor Who.

He's quirky but not in a good way like Baker or Chris were...And he lacks the sexual chemistry that Chris had with Rose...

Two real reasons.

1) The BBC (who hate science fiction) decided to do 1 series, 'to see how it goes' rather than say 'This is going to be massive! lets commission 3 series for starters' and thus locking the actor into a 3 year / 3 series deal. This allowed CE to leave.

2) CE said that he did not want to be type casted. (PILLOCK !!! if you take on an ICONIC role such as this you will, for the rest of your life be linked with that character). So in other words, he knew that taking on the Dr Who role would give him MASSIVE publicity and a nice 'pension' with all the repeats fees & other Dr Who work over the coming years interviews etc and would give him the chance to take on other roles.

(The thing is that David Tennant is a MUCH BETTER Dr than him, with the potential of being another Tom Baker)

He has a poor concern of stable artwork, boundless pay, and an entire life of charging for deepest appearances and autographs. In different words, he did not desire to be typecast. maximum actors that attain this point quickly initiate thinking they're administrators.

He feared that if he did more than one series he would become typecast as the Doctor. Instead, he wished to pursue other roles, as from his career one can tell, he likes to have a varied range of roles - perhaps to show off his acting skills, or maybe just so he doesn't get bored. :)

He said he didn't want to be typecast, but I thought he was ok as the Doctor but the sexual chemistry and emotional connection wasn't as strong with Billie as it was between Billie and David Tennant.

I like watching both they are good in their own way. David however IMO is the sexiest one of the two.

He did not want to be type cast plus he had other TV work on the go and could not cope with the schedules

Because he thought he was above being a Dr. Who.

In Doctor Who, there are different doctors, therefore, his time was up. There's a new person now. It changes.

Wasn't it because he didn't want to be typecast?
