I bought mine at walmart.com for $498 acer aspire 1.6 processor 40GB HD CDRW/DVD ROM another good place is overstock.com they usually have some good deals there in the 3 to 4 hundred dollar range.

i agree. tigerdirect is a quality organization. and they have both new and refurbished.
also, some people would pass over a toshiba when buying a laptop - i love mine! it was on sale at best buy for a great price with a printer, extra memory and a case. so, check out those as well!

Beware of Dell refurbs. They have a dismal track record for failing -- typically at the most inopportune times. I get about 20 of them a year in my shop -- and most of my customers buy new.
You may like to have a look at http://www.pricewatch.com and their cost based search engine for computer items.
Also, salescircular.com is a good source for local sales information.

go to www.ebuyer.com, they have cheap deals on laptops all the time. If you want anything refurbished go to www.ebay.co.uk you could get a bargain there.
