You know internet. You used it. Even, when you see this question, actually you are looking at the internet. When did the internet age started, and how? How is the simplest form of a computer a long time ago, connected to others and make a simple connection?

According to Muchinsky, the internet age officially started in 1994. He marks this as the time b/c this is the year that the # of websites exceeded 100,000. Whereas the previous year it was only in the 40-thousands. It's in one of my textbooks for school. Muchinsky is an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, if you want to check it out yourself. I don't have a website handy for the info though.

Computers in the late 1960s and early 1970s were as large as a room, however; at that time, a number of these machines were linked up. This mostly went on at universities to share knowledge. The very earliest computers did not really link up in this sense.
