I'm in Massachusetts, and "scary cold" sure does describe today! It's 10 F outside right now (at almost 1:30 pm!) - that's way beyond cold to me.
My personal definition of cold changes with the seasons. In winter, cold to me is anything below maybe 25 F. In the summer, cold is anything below around 55 or 60 F.
I just got off the phone with a retired colleague who's in Florida - he said it's cold down there: 60 F!

Sheesh, I just got chill bumps from you telling the temp in NH. Here in the south, anything under 32 F is considered cold to us. If it is under 25, we have a ahrd time functioning. Last night it was 27 but today will reach 60.

I'm from Chicago, IL and I'd have to say I would consider anything below 45 degrees cold, but around here it can easily get down to -20F in the winter time. As you know, it is the Windy City, and it lives up to it's name in wind chill factor.

I'm from Minnesota. Cold is -10° F or colder. I've been out skiing bareheaded and no gloves at zero. It's not that bad if there's no wind.

In Midwest, we are use to those crazy temps on occassion. Cold to me is when your snot freezes inside your nose the minute you go outside....20 below or lower.

I am from Thailand and l live in Bangkok. My definition of cold weather is "below 20C", or "below 70F". Now please don't laugh. Ask anyone in Bangkok on a day with below 20C if she/he is feeling cold! For me anything below 10C is freezing and anything below 0C (32F) is clearly inhuman! Well, of course my friends on the internet hardly agree with me....
