Wow....what a difficult question. I certainly don't envy you the answers you will get form this.
My own personal opinion is, yes, I honestly believe they do. Rationale is a good thing, and we each do a lot of it. Logic as well as philosophy is also a very important part of our cerebral lives. But, to exclude the conceptual...imagination, emotion, etc....is to exclude a great part of our lives. While there are some things in our lives that demand absolute proof, there are more things that demand belief. Irational as that belief may be, if you take it away, we wither. Even Satre himself believed in the imaginative powers of cognition.

philosophy is the minds attempt to understand the heart, logic provides the ground rules for interpreting the answers. To abandon either is to condemn oneself to a life of mental ineptitude. If you wish to see the effects on a mind that lacks these traits, look no further then the president.

i would say no, as i feel alot of philosophy is not based on logic or rational exposition
ps: perhaps i should add, that while philosophy has as a goal a logical explantion of its subjects, the actual process to arrive at that logical state involves many parts of the brain

There kind of like a body builder that only works out one arm. They end up with a lopsided view of life.

Not at all. I practice those things, and they have not rendered my immune to the beauties of life; to the contrary, I believe that reason have deepened my appreciation of things. Knowledge may demystify, but it does not neccessarily debase.
