You could use a tree branch and hang your relatives' names off the little twigs.
You might also look at some genealogy sites to see what people who take this seriously do. (see one below)
Be sure you don't get too ambitious and make it so hard you miss out on the point (learning French for mother, father, brother, grandparent, etc.)
