I was always taught to stay away, but these people treat it like it's not a crime. If upper class people are doing drugs, and not just the poor people, then maybe this is like the prohibition? When alcohol was made legal, bootleggers went away... If drugs were made legal, would drug dealers go away?

Recreational drug use has been around since drugs have been around. Perhaps this is the first time you've been exposed to it and that's why it seems strange to you. If drugs were legalized, then yes, dealers would go away because there would not be a market for them any longer.

I think you have a really good point. Less people would grow and do drugs if it was legal. they get a rush doing it, other than the one caused by the drug itself. And i think it would be a great cash crop and a boost in our economy if it was sold legally with taxes and all.....lol

You would think that the government would like the idea of legalizing drugs so they could tax and regulate the sales.

They certainly would be less powerful, for they would not have so much money on their side. However, then the CIA would loose a major source of funding. Freedom is generally better, though some folks will abuse freedom who would behave out of fear under a repressive regime.

Because most college students, like most people are sheep. They follow the leader. Other examples of stupid behavior that is emulated by the masses include tattoos, piercings, pants falling down, rags on the head, cars with loud mufflers, cars with loud speakers blaring, and inability to function without a cell phone in your ear.

A nice theory, but no that wouldn't work.
Just don't buy into the 'drugs and alcohol are cool' idea, and don't hang out with people who think it's no big deal. Things will change if more people think this way.
