How many people will be killed in a premature withdrawal from Iraq, will it compare to Vietnam?

Can any libs give me a REAL answer? Shouldn't we do what's best for the future instead of b****ing about what we should or should not have done. For the record, I think it was stupid idea to go to Iraq, bu LIKE IT OR NOT, the conseqences of an early withdrawal will be devastating.

And how many more of our troops will have to die before we are willing to admit we are stuck in a no-win situation? How do we justify it to their families that they died for a noble cause when it has become an endless cycle of meaningless killing?

We're in a situation where both the Sunnis and Shiites increasingly wants us to get out... and the longer we stay, the more they will use force to make us get out. Unfortunately, we can't decide for the Iraqis what their country should be like in the future, if they still want it to be one country. That's what created this whole problem in the first place, the British drawing arbitrary borders in the desert post-WWI.

If you want to compare it to Vietnam, Vietnam was in a war with the French for 10 years before we came, 20 years with us when we came, and did not really recover and prosper until the late '80s and '90s. It took them half a century... and how many lives?

The real question is why have we not started impeachment proceedings to bring the criminals that started this war to justice.

They have been feeding you so many talking points to the media that we forget that this was illegal to begin with.

Where are the WMD's ? Remember that was why we went there , to stop that alleged threat. They said saddam was reconstituting his nuclear program.

Fast forward 3 years later and there are no WMD's and the president admitted that there are none.
We have lost more than 3000 american soldiers with countless others that have had their limbs blown off and their genitals by Improvised explosive devices. War profiteers have made more than a trillion dollars without any of there kids dying. NO bid contracts for Halliburton , KBR , etc. and they have you so diverted that you are repeating there talking points saying leaving would be worse.

Have they admitted that this whole endeavor was a mistake.
Have they offered to pay the Iraqis reparations.
Have they admitted any mistakes ,ever?

No , they just keep changing their rationale for war, making excuses and stretching it out at the cost of more soldiers lives until some democrats get in office. Then they will surely blame them and say that they started the whole mess.

ESTIMATES HAVE BEEN FROM 1.5 MILLION TO 5 MILLION LOST IN A CIVIL WAR IF WE LEAVE THE COUNTRY PREMATURELY. THATS IF THE CONFLICT DOESN'T BECOME REGIONAL AS IT LIKELY WILL CONSIDERING THAT IRAN IS DOMINATED BY THE SHIA AND SAUDI ARABIA IS DOMINATED BY THE SUNNIS. NEITHER IS GOING TO ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. ONCE THIS THING IS OVER, I'M SURE THAT IRAQ WILL BECOME THE MOST PROSPEROUS COUNTRY IN THE AREA MUCH LIKE GERMANY AND JAPAN DID AFTER WW2. Im no lib and just want to make sure yo realize that any form of early withdrawl from Iraq will be precieved as a weekness and we all know that Somilia was perceived as one and is what they have come to expect from us. The death toll you are asking for will have to include all the agression twards the US here and everywhere else we are as well as the collapse of the middle east as Iran tries to expand its influance and lets not forget the radical Islamic factions who will see that as a great victory for them what will that do for them recruiting wise? NO it is not an option in the real world but is and will continue to be in the political arena until the Office of President is occupied by someone the left feels they can push arround.

There will be many innocent people killed or maimed as one side seeks revenge on the other. As for your comments, AGREED. The vacuum left by the withdrawal of the forces there, will be like a wind storm, it will suck all the mercenaries, gansters and outlaws, not to mention agents from other countries to go in there and create havoc for their own profit and pleasure. THe invasion was badly planned, with no regards to what do we do when we win and how do we handle a withdrawal. Thousands more troops will only give the "rebels" more target to shoot at. Time for the TEXAN to strap on his six shooter and put his *** on the line.

Isn't it sad how Vietnam was run by politicians and public opinion and now Iraq is swinging swiftly in to the same direction?!!!

I'd certainly much rather fight this on THEIR soil than on ours. They killed more people in THIS country in less than one hour than it's taken them years on their soil. Since taking this issue on their soil...we've averted any attacks on our lands. Many forget that it took them YEARS to plan out the attack on NYC! What's next?

I don't oppose what's happening in Iraq considering that the terrorists there will kill their own children just to get a chance to kill one or more of us! I also don't oppose our troops keeping them busy in THEIR country so that ours is safer!

Sadly, we don't hear the WHOLE story because many prefer to listen to the rhetoric of their uniformed friends!

I so truely believe that we're doomed to repeat history if we don't start remembering history!

This is likened to telling people to evacuate because a cat 5 hurricane is bearing down and then blame the government because your home was destroyed and you were hurt because you didn't leave.
