There are certainly investigations that can be done some of which require a general anaesthetic for example laparoscopy with dye passed through the cervix to see if the fallopian tubes are patent(not blocked)

Well there are procedures and tests available to see why a woman cant conceive but i think "operation" is the wrong word

Yes. A Histerecotomy. Or Something like that.
Not sure how to spell it.
Completely gets rid of the reproductive organs.

laparoscopy and dye i had one 8yrs ago its performed under general anaesthetic by inserting a camera and dye through an incision in your belly button Ive now got 4 kids

Sure, they can do all kinds of blood tests and even an ultra sound to see if she has endometriosis, not to mention a few others.
