By the word "posture", I assume you mean grip.
What has been posted is almost right, but not quite.
The shooting hand goes behind the ball with the first finger in the center of the ball. Other fingers need to stay spread. The fingertips are not what grips. That would make you miss shots short because it would roll off your hand too fast. Fingertip control sounds like typing or playing piano to me. The entire length of your fingers needs to touch the ball, but you should have a small bit of space between the ball and your palm.
The other hand, known as the off hand, has the job of starting on the side, helping lift the ball a bit, then getting OFF the ball so the shooting hand can shoot it straight. If you grip the ball as you are doing now, you are going to shoot with two hands. That will not allow you to shoot straight consistently at all. Shooting straight is one of only two things you have to do. The other is to judge distance.
Breaking the habit of two-hand shooting is the biggest problem of all among players today.

Place your dominant hand on the underside of the ball. Then balance the ball on the fingertips of your dominant hand. (There should be a gap between the ball and the palm of your hand holding the ball.) Then place your other hand on the side of the ball. (This hand is used simply to hold the ball in place while preparing to shoot.) Then, at the TOP of your jump, release the ball and follow through. (A proper "follow-through" is like putting your hand in the basket while it's attached to your arm. The motion can be compared to an exaggerated "good-bye" wave" that ends up with your fingers touching your wrist.) Then practice this motion over and over again.

You want to have your legs about shoulder width apart. Make sure you bend your knees. Place your shooting hand on the underside of the ball. Place your guide hand on the side of the ball. Keep your elbow on your shooting hand in towards your body. When you go to shoot, push the ball up with your shooting hand. Don't use your guide hand to help force the ball out of your hands. Extend your shooting arm straight out and follow through with your wrist. You want to make sure to put alot of arch onthe ball. The more arch- the better chance the ball has of going in. When you shoot a jump shot, you should land in the same spot in which you start. You shouldn't lunge forwardward or backward. Remember BEEF when shooting:

B-balance
E-elbow in
E-extend arm straight out
F- followthrough

Place one hand on the side and the other behind and just under it. You want to shoot it with an arch so it goes over then through the rim. It might take sometime getting used to. Hope this helps.

dmspartan is dead on for this one. One thing I would add is to release the ball off of your index and middle fingers. If the ball comes off of your little finger, it has a tendency to drift to the left (if you are tight-handed) and fall short. Good luck

This might sound corny, but you have to "feel" the ball in your hands. probably listen to music from an iPod or something else, and figure out your "groove" i tried that with "smack that" by akon & eminem, & it got me into a groove.
