Just as Esop has fables (stories for kids) this tooth fairy story is shared with kids to start them saving money and to feel good about doing one exchange for another. Actually the parents take the tooth and put the money there under the child's pillow as a reward. Some parents like to keep the child's teeth and first hard soled shoes for good luck (and as good memories of their child and their child's growth), just like they keep a baby book.

No the tooth fairy does not build houses with them.
If you haven't read the stories of Esops Fables, go and look them up on the net.

The truth is, the tooth fairy is very old and ugly, and she has a lot of missing teeth, so she gathers them from little kids, and whenever she finds the right one she installs it into her mouth, ewww

Makes dentures to sell to dentists so they can sell them back to us for an inflated price. Yep, the Tooth Fairy is an evil capitalist.

The dirty little secret is that she turns around and sells the teeth to companies that make dentures for a huge profit. And because it is a business, she can deduct the pittance she does give to the kids as a business expense.
