TNA is a division of the National Wrestling Alliance, and has a deal with the NWA to keep the titles within their promotion to put them on national television. Most of the NWA affiliates do not have a national television deal.

They made a deal with the nwa territories. It give's their belt and company more legitimacy. NWA became WCW. So technically the TNA/NWA belt has been around 30 years and has had such champions as Ric Flair and Harley Race.

I dont know why WWE retired so many belts. They went with cruiserweight over lightweight, because cruiserweight championship was a big deal in wcw but the lightweight was a joke in wwf. Hardcore was retired because if it was weekly hardcore matches it would take away from their big ppv no dq/hardcore /cage/random gimmick matches.
The European belt should be brought back. It helped when the wrestlers had levels. The heavyweight contenders were the stars, thw Intercontinental were almost stars or on their way. And the european were those guys that had a chance to be legends they just needed time.
Rock, Austin, HBK, Owen,Bret. They all got to slowly climb the ladder through the titles and were better performers because of it.
