They don't have a team in any of the big four leagues - NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL - but they do have some pro sports teams. They've got the Richmond Kickers soccer team in the USL, hockey's Richmond Renegades from the ECHL, and several minor league baseball teams including the Norfolk Tides and Richmond Braves.

None of the major sports leagues (NHL, NBA, MLB, and NFL) have a team located in Virginia.
Back in the late 1980's, there was an attempt to move the Washington Redskins to Alexandria, Virginia, but that fell through.
In the old ABA (American Basketball Association, which merged with the NBA around 1976), there was a team called the Virginia Squires. It was in existence around 1970 for a year or two. I think they played in the Tidewater area, and I also think it was Julius "Dr. J" Erving's first professional basketball team.
