In terms of Bush's place in history, I think he will be remembered alongside the greatest presidents including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ronald Reagan, and a fellow Republican by the name of Abraham Lincoln. Now, I can't list ALL Bush Accomplishments with such a short amount of space (and time), but I will list a couple of things this great man has done.

1) Bush has reestablished good Christian Values in the White House, and America at large (Lord knows we needed it after the Clinton administration).
2) Bush has made us safe from terrorists through his audacious military efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
3) Bush has continuously fought for Middle Class Americans by cutting taxes. A move that also saved the Economy!
4) Bush has raised educational standards for our kids by starting the "no child left behind" program.

I can go on and on with Bush's accomplishments. There are just too many of them to mention because he's one of the best President's ever!

1. Bush is a member in good standing of the Skulls and Bones. How does that make him have good Christian values?
2. Bush's administration are our real enemies. He is a war monger and a liar. And he took away our rights and freedoms due to the Patriot Acts...have you read them???
3. The tax cuts were for the rich!! The middle class still supports this nation more than any other group of people.
4. Our nation's education system is probably in the worse shape it's ever been in. Just take a look at the education system in Texas when he was governor!!

I don't know where you think you get your facts from...but they are wrong. Guess your eyes must be brown....cause someone has fed you that much bull shiiiiitttttt!

No, not at all. He was pretty solid as governor of Texas (my home state) but as president (an infinitely more demanding job), he has been increasingly divisive, unreliable, and elitist in his rhetoric and actions.

I don't think he's the horrible person some people paint him to be, and I don't think he's an idiot. But I do think he has let himself be the friendly, semi-likeable face of a greedy and fundamentally dishonest group of people. Cheney, Rove, Rummsfeld ... the usual suspects.

You're entitled to your opinion, and Bush has done some positive things (the tax cut among them). And I'll admit that this is not an easy time to be president. But it blows my mind how much some people like Dubya. I can see how, if you're a committed Republican, then you've got to stand by your party. Fair enough. But the way that people put him on a pedestal and regard him as not just a leader but an idol of sorts ... it's just bizarre. He's never displayed the charisma, smarts, or eloquence of a Reagan or a JFK, and any attempts at "common man" appeal just come off forced.

History defines who constitutes as a good president and who does not. I can't say that 50 years down the line, historians may reflect back and say Bush was a great president. However, in the short run, I do believe he's one of the worst presidents ever. To respond to your argument on why you think he's great:

1) Is it good Christian value to send our troops into a needless war based on faulty intelligence? Is it good Christian value to help those who don't need help and disregard the poor? Why are we in Iraq and not in Darfur? Where was he when and after Katrina struck? Personal religious beliefs mean nothing if it's not reflected in personal acts.
2) He's made our troops less safe and more hated abroad. We may be safe here, but Americans are not really safe anywhere else in the world. Also, his inaction after coming into office was partially the reason we were less safe to begin with.
3) Bush may have cut taxes for the middle class, but he primarily cut taxes for his wealthy friends - at a time when the country was at war, leading to an inexplicable increase in national debt.
4) NCLB, while good in intention, is too narrowly defined, focuses too much attention on reading and math and nothing else, puts too much emphasis on standardized testing, and is not funded enough... because most of our tax money went to the war.

If this is the merit we use to define greatness, then we obviously don't have a very high standard set for our presidents.

No, easily one of the five worst, by any standard. A president is judged by how he handles what comes at him and what he creates on his own. Bush flunks on both counts.
1) Lieing, stealing, murdering, bearing false witness, coveting his neighbor's oil. Not very christian at all, sorry.
2) America is at greater risk to terrorism now and only increasingly so since he losing his poorly-run war. Bin Laden is still at large.
3) Tax cuts were for the wealthy, not working Americans, who have lost three million jobs. Bush promotes the export of jobs, and this hurts families a great deal all over the USA.
4) No Child Left Behind is a slogan for an underfunded program. It has failed to address urban education miserably. Bush favors vouchers, which run contrary to No Child. Raising standards and cutting funding are a recipe for disaster.
You could go on, but you would be mistaken each time.
Bush has done nothing but get his rich friends richer. Not an accomplishment, in my book. He has harmed America greatly and deserves to be prosecuted. If you really are a christian, you will hold him accountable.

good god, i hope you're joking.

1) what ever happened to the seperation of church and state? and btw, i hardly think that misleading our entire country to go into war under false pretenses is a very "christian" thing to do.
2) iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11!
3) good, great. so the only people in this country who need a break is the middle class? it's the lower classes that really need the help!
4) "no child left behind" MY WHITE @SS!!! school kids are having state assesment tests shoved down their throats to the point where the only thing that they're learning is how to pull off a passing grade on a multiple choice test. this administration doesn't give a good god damn what children actually learn, just as long as the test scores make them look good.

the only thing that bastard will be remembered as is a lying, manipulative, egomaniacle, wanna-be dictator that cares about nothing but his own political agenda.

Well, even though you are one of the few who recognize his accomplishments, I am sorry to say that not many recognize him as a "good" president. Many are seeing him because of what he did wrong. Some include that he ignored a clear warning of a terrorist attack, that he gave tax cuts to the rich, and he started a war in Iraq. People know that he's so focused in Iraq that he's not getting anything done here on our soil. Now he's trying to get more troops in Iraq and people are angry about it. So, people are probably not going to recognize him for the good things he's done, but for the many things that seem disagreeable to the people of this country.

It is WAY TOO SOON to determine how history will regard President Bush, and still too early to tell how his father's presidency will be looked at by historians.

Only now Reagan's presidency is being evaluated from a historical perspective.

It takes about twenty-five years before historians can begin to look at presidents in an objective view.

Right now there is was too much emotion and subjectivity swiriling around recent presidents.

Not sure if he will make the top 5, you brought up only a few things, that the country is not looking at right now, I would not even list Ronald Reagan in the top 5.

no. hahahaha, i mean really, ROFLMFAO. that is hilarious.
1. Christian Values in the White House, and America? show me where jesus said "...kill all the men, women, and children (who believe in me)." there is an evil aura about the whitehouse today.

2. stirred up more hatred than the last fifty years of the 'ugly american' syndrome. iraq was a sovereign nation. iran is a sovereign nation.

3. bush's focus domesticly has been, much as his father, eliminate the middle class. and btw the economy suks, they just spent 400 billion dollars on a war and want to double that. maybe you didn't see, Ford posted the worst year in it's history yesterday. some economy you got there.

4. no child left behind? i call your attention to 500,000 homeless children in america!!!

you are so bogus, i'm wondering if you're a troll. in which case, i applaud you. i'm just scared you might be real. 10% of americans agree with you, anyway.

1) Separation of Church and State. Christian values have no place in the White House.
2) Bush started an unjustified war, and is responsible for the deaths of thousands of US troops. Not to mention that he has destroyed all good ties we had with foreign nations, and as a result of the war he has made many new enemies. We have a greater chance of terrorist retaliation now more than ever.
3) Last time I checked, our economy was unstable at best.
4) Bush started and then abandoned the "no child left behind" program, and only recently tried to put some effort into it last minute to sound good at the State of the Union address.

Bush may be remembered more than many other Presidents, but it won't be for good deeds, it will be for the war he started and the strife he caused to the United States and its people. With any luck, it will be a lesson in history so that future generations will learn not to repeat his mistakes!
