Just check the mail on the Wii (on the bottom right screen), and there should be a mail sent by Nintendo telling you about the update.
So you were wrong. You WOULD have known about the update without calling Nintendo. You were just too lazy to check your Wii...

Each time an update is available, the blue light will come on.It should have told you that an update was ready. Scroll over to your "Internet" icon on the main menu. That was the first update I received.
It also comes on when someone has emailed your wii. Mys son-in-law and I send pic's to each other and that's how I know when he has sent one.
Good Luck!

The Wii was a big letdown for me. I expected it to be great. But it's a pain to shoot people with it, it doesn't fit your hand, there's less buttons. Nintendo Gamecube went down hill, they stoped making games, games were coming out for every system (new and older) except for the gamecube, why would you want to buy a Wii when nintendo can't even keep up with the games?

Just do the update. its out there because it will help your Wii. who cares what it is. When windows updates you don't always know what you are updating you just know that you need to do it for the better. plus you are lucky to have a Wii

Well, most updates don't really ever tell you what they do, you just have to find out for yourself. When ever there's an update for the 360, you don't know what it is, but you're basically forced to download it. So, you minus will download it. If not, Curiosity kills.

No, you may in user-friendly words use a sport dice controller for sport dice video games, because it has buttons the classic controller would not. notwithstanding, sport dice controllers would properly be picked up for roughly £5/$10 at a community sport keep or someplace like Amazon. wish this facilitates, Tom.

Just update and find out.
When you get Windows updates on your computer it doesn't tell you what it's updating.
