im having cramps for 3 days but my period is late... i've been having sex but its always with protection. any way im stressing about this.
i've never taken birth control pills and my periods are sometimes a few days late, i had a cold last week and im still caughing alot. but i dont think this can delay my period. what could it be?

cramping can happen several days before your period actually starts. Also, severe cramping with no blood can by a sign of ovarian cysts or endometriosis. I had a moderate case of endometriosis that vanished when I lost a significant amount of weight, and my main symptom was severe period-like cramps with no actual period. You should definitely consult a doctor and tell her/him your symptoms. They are a much better judge than anyone on here! Also--- irregular periods are also a HUGE warning sign for ovarian cysts or endometriosis--- also something that happened to me when I had endo. Go get this checked out!

Well maybe since you've been kinda stress it could be that....or it could be something else but if you said that sometimes it comes late then it can't be. I would wait for a little while longer and see what happens if nothing go to the doctor. Usually if you're having cramps your period should soon follow

I think you're fine, sometimes its late and the cramps can start as early as a few weeks before. Plus, you are on protection, if you weren't then there would really be cause for worry...

I usually cramp about a week before I start. But being sick and also stressing out can cause you to be late.

It is normal. I cramp for a few days before my actual period comes on.

just because u use protection doesnt mean its 100 effective. Cramping is a sign of pregnency too so if your peroid is still late in a few days i would go and check that out. other thing is if your stressing over this, it can and will delay the peroid. you could even make yourself ,mentally pregnent and basicallly your body feels like you are pregnent you get all teh signs and simptoms but a negative test.

I'm male and when I get painful cramps for more than a few days...I usually wait for a big dump then the cramps are gone.

yeah the illness can put it off and the cramps are your uterus contracting which can sometimes start before your period it often does in my case but everyone is different
