4 eggs hatched wednesday January 24, 2007 in London Zoo.
There is said to have been a very bright light in the sky shining over while the miraculous births were taking place.
Could this be a sign? Or are we talking Messiah birth here?

Actually this is parthenogenesis. The parent lizard did not change into a male. The child is not a clone--i.e. is not genetically identical to the mother. The egg used genetic material the mother already had in her body as a substitute for what a male lizard would normally provide.

BTW, there is already a lizard species called the Jesus Lizard (because they can walk on water--well sort of).

There are a lot of reptiles known to have or evolve both sex organs in order to give birth on there own. This happens with snakes, frogs, fish, Insects, Spiders, and it's even been known to happen with one small rodent. It's very common and I have seen evidence of this while studying snakes in south America. National Geographic.com has plenty of info on this occurrence. I'm sure the whole thing with the bright light in the sky was just a tabloids way of jazzing it up. Just think if it was a human! Then that would be something to really talk about.

Yeah, unfertilized eggs can sometimes hatch, producing clones of the mother. I doubt that the Messiah will come in the form of a komodo dragon.

Mr. Know it all has it right; for a more in depth study of this reptilian phenomenon, read Michael Chrictons " Jurassic Park". While it is a fictional book, the science behind it is all true, and verifiable.

No,nothig spectacular here. The lizard species tend to do this. With a preponderance of females and no males around, females will morph into males, and with nobody else around, females will give birth to new young.

You really show your lack of knowledge. A number of more primitive forms of female animals can reproduce without the presence of a male. Lucky for you.
