Wow so many questions :-) .. Firstly I live in the UK and its illegal here, the best place to go for a legal smoke has to be Amsterdam without a doubt.
I use cannabis on a daily basis, I have been smoikng weed for over 25 years now. I don't drink or take and other drug legal or otherwise.
I'm the sort of person who lives on their nerves, highly strung and hyperactive to the point where I annoy even myself. Having a smoke helps me to remain calm enough to be 'normal'.
Recently I've been sharing it with my Auntie who is dying of cancer, the perscription drugs were just knocking her out. When she first tried cannabis she hadn't been able to walk for 11 days, but when she left the pills alone and smoked she managed to walk around. Now I'm not suggesting that the cannabis performed a miracle, but it dealt with the pain she is suffering without making her catatonic, surely thats got to be better than the chemicals the doctors are feeding her?

Why not make money on the stuff instead of spending millions os dollars in court fees and incarceration? Option 1: Keep the drug illegal but instead of putting people in jail or giving them jail time, write them a ticket! Make $85-150 on a possession offense (depending on the amount) and keep non-violent criminals out of the jail system. Option 2: Make it legal. Do you have any idea how much money is to be made in excise tax!? Lets say that an ounce of marijuana costs $5 to produce which is an overshot taking all factors into consideration. The tobacco company sells it at a base price of $50 (a 900% profit) and the government places a $50 excise tax on the product keeping store prices around the same as street value of roughly $100 per ounce. Specialty grades can still be sold at street value and companies and the government will make even more money. Sometime, I should do some research comparing the cost of incarceration/probation/court costs vs. the potential profit of taxes and fines.

I don't grow my own, but I do smoke a bowl every night before bed to calm my nerves and help with my back pain. I've had 2 spinal surgeries in the past 3 years, and I've found that Marijuana is the BEST way to kill the pain. I was on oxycontin and percocet for a year and a half and although it killed the pain it also left me with TERRIBLE side effects and addiction. Once I stopped taking pills and switched over to pot, all my addiction and stomach problems went away.

I used to grow and smoked it daily for years, but I quit and will only do a tiny bit once a month or less now.
I find i feel much happier as a person now that i don't use it all the time.
I find a small drink of beer suits me more these days.

I've never used it and never would because i had friends who thought it was wonderful , they'd get stoned I'd get drunk and that's how it was .
as time went on though , because i woke the next day the same sober person i always was i noticed a gradual change in them , it's hard to define but they seemed to think differently , all of a sudden everything had have some deeper meaning , you ask if they want a cup of tea and get a four hour lecture on the principals of religion and this is without taking drugs !
my closest friend of that time is still alive (most died young though only one of an overdose) he walks into pubs and empties ashtrays into a bag so he can smoke whats left , if asked what's up with him he'll tell you nothing at all we are put on this earth to admire the beauty of it all and work is for fools ! then he'll go back to his doorway and lie on his old newspapers and go to sleep thinking he's happy .
he has never taken anything but cannabis , NO THANKS !

If it were legal I would use it for back pain. What's this green card stuff all about? I thought you needed that to work in the USA? Or am I being "blonde"?

been there done that. very profitable. i have a cousin that has been going through chemo therapy on and off for years. I'm not sure if it's being used as a crutch but she says it helps with the nausea and keeps her appetite up. doesn't really matter what the purpose is for her as long as it helps with her quality of life.
