Are there currently any book editors or publishers online now that are looking for submissions? What genres are you looking for and do you have a website where an aspiring writer can submit?

Jim:
The net is full of publishers and most will take your submission and tell you how they wish it set up. I wrote two books and self published because it is next to imposible to get any of these guys interested. They want your manuscript sent regular mail and believe me it takes up to three years to get an answer if you get one at all.
I have since found a place that take submissions and help you along with your work. Please, please, if you take this route, let me know how well it works for you so I can tell others. Browes to New York Literary Agency and there it shows you what to do. They promise to answer your query in two days and they do. If interested they ask you to send manuscript through email and show you how. They promise to get back to you in two weeks and again they do. They are not self publisher pushers. Good luck and again, please let me know how you make out.

Ha! technology will never take over actual editing. How can a program know if you've used the right there/their and similarly confusing words that trip up writers who aren't paying attention to what they write. how can it tell if you meant right or write? How can it tell if your sentence needs to be tightened to make it the prose stronger? As long as it's supposedly grammatically correct and you don;'t have any misspellings then it cant really do more beyond that, and even then it doesn't catch everything or it marks as wrong stuff that's okay in fiction writing (like fragments). Have you ever used Microsoft Word? that alone should tell you that you can't rely on a computer program to do all your editing for you. And there are different types of editors. Not all editors look at syntax, grammar, and spelling. There are editors who fact check. there are editors who look at your plot and characters and make suggestions. What you take up will depend on what type of editor you want to be. If you can get a minor in Literature then that can only help you.

Visit www.lulu.com. This is a very useful website.

Authors can summit any work they want and publish it online or even a book! They even hold the copyrights for the book. You earn your commission based on how many books that you are able to sell.

This is the most suitable place for wannabe writers to sharpen their talent. It a good place to begin.
