2 chicks and a guy are on an elevator. The guy looks down and sees a $1 bill. He asks chick one, then chick 2 if its theirs, both reply no. The guy hesitates to pick up the $ and chick 1 picks it up. Was she wrong to pick it up, or is that okay?

If the original finder didn't want to pick it up it then it's fair game.

No, no one else was going to pick it up, and it is appearent that it belonged to no one in the elevator. Ediquet says that the original finder should get it. But he had reservatons about picking it up. what he should have done, is to pick it up, then ask, and if it was, return it to the owner. 1$ no big deal......put a spin on the question, and make it a 100$

For a dollar, I wouldn't worry about it. Someone lost it that probably will never know it's gone. If one of those three didn't pick it up, someone would have.
The proper etiquette would be to turn the dollar into the lost and found (receptionist or someone) in case anyone wanted to claim it. But, again, who is going to notice a missing dollar?

I was raised that you never touch or take what does not belong to you. If any of the 3 picked it up and turned it in to lost & found, that's fine. But if "chick 1" picked it up and kept it, that's stealing. And those of you who will steal a dollar that doesn't belong to you, would steal $100 just as easily.

Besides. There's a 0.0001% chance that e chick is gonna turn it into the lost & found.
