Though I agree somewhat with Katydid, I still can't believe you would want to repeat mistakes. Even the quote you provided refutes that statement. Yes, it is alright to make mistakes as long as we learn from them. To keep repeating mistakes is just a show of not having apathy. In my occupation, if I make mistakes I don't get to eat! I don't know about you but, my stomach is a lot happier if it has some food in it.

Ok I'm going to take my time with this answer in hopes I get it right the first time and don't have to go back and edit it. *wink*

First..... this is such a statement about our society and the changes we have all undergone as technology takes over our lives. We live in a "plug and play" world now. It's a wonder that we aren't all ADD. Everything we need is a click or a button or a switch away. So little is left for us to actually sink our teeth into and work for.

We quickly cook our dinner by pushing the buttons of the microwave. *DING*

Our researching skills consist of googling and having the answers come up before us.

We turn on the tv and settle in for a show and the minute it starts to bore us we grab the remote and find another show only to change from it the minute a commercial comes on.

We sit down to play a video game and start to lose and say what a crappy game this is and immediately put in another.

Society wants instant gratification and has come to expect it.

Therefore, emphasis seems to be moving towards completing a task in a timely manner rather than completing a task of quality. Being first..... getting it done. That seems to be the emphasis. It's not like the capability to do it well doesn't exist. It does! But focusing our attention long enough to do it well, doesn't become priority.

Why is there never enough time? Ohhhhhh there is! Society just needs to get back to appreciating quality...... and the effort necessary to acquire it.

Oh, please don't say this! My father drilled this little gem into my brain: "Do it right the first time and you won't have to do it again."

I spent waaaay too much time worrying about making mistakes.
To heck with that...perfectionism doesn't work. There is so much to be learned from dumb mistakes and it's a whole lot less stressful to give it your best shot without worrying so much about getting it just right. Some people (like brain surgeons and rocket scientists) really need to be so exacting. The rest of us can loosen up a bit.
Some mistakes are so much fun they're worth repeating. I like this quote, too: "The road to sucess is paved with mistakes well-handled."

OH WOW what a good question.

I guess if we all had hindsight we would get it right the first time huh?
But we can get that second chance to try over and over and over
and hopefully Practice will make perfect.

Because it's easier to say "I'm sorry" than it is to say "Please?".
Because it's easier to Apologize than it is to Ask.
Because it's easier to lie AFTER an event has occurred than to lie about something that hasn't happened yet. (People do two things with their mouths: Eat & Lie.)
Because people don't really care about the future. They care more about the past and the now.
Because most people are SLOOOOOW learners.
Time? What time? We've got sports to watch! We've got awards to give away to actors! We've got alot of TV to watch! Time? What time? We've got trivia to discuss! We've got celebrity booty to kiss! We've got drugs that need getting, paying for and taking! We've got ALOT of praying to do too! (Which I've never understood)
Anyway, I have to go. My mirror needs some of my precious TIME.

Doing it over resets the time as a new project. At least that is what I tell my boss.
