I put in Shrek for my 2 year old to watch so I could be here this morning. I feel guilty, but my son seems very content. Am I a bad mommy?

If I didnt put in a movie, he would be climbing on my back begging me to go to the Spiderman web site and that makes it hard to type anything...

Each of you needs a bit of time throughout the day. If he is content to watch his movie, I say he is fine. Gives him a little independence and you are right there if he needs anything. Keeping him watching movies all day everyday, so that you don't have to bother with him, would be a whole different issue.

Mommys need a little me time to. You are not a bad mommy. I think every mommy has sat their child in front of a TV or given them a toy to distract them for a while to have time for themselves. As long as you don't do it all the time I don't see a problem with it. Good Luck

No, as long as he is being entertained and Shrek is a good movie for children. Every mom deserves a break now and then.

no, it doesnt. every mother deserves to have a little bit of free time for herself, and its not like you put him into an environment where he would be unhappy while you did it. As long as you remember to also give him love and mental stimulation, he will be ok. maybe you should go in and watch the movie with him after you're done checking your mail? that may ease your concience.

IF you are a bad mother for this then so am I because I just done the same thing. I think all mothers need a little me time without having the kids jumping all over the place. Just remember thought that our children do need us to spend time with them just as much as we need our alone time.

Well if you were on here doing something important, then I'd say no, but since you're just farting around on Yahoo answers, then I'd say yes, you are a bad mommy. Now do something productive or go play with the poor kid.

As long as you're still paying attention to him when he needs you, he's happy and you're not frequently using the television as a baby sitter or substitute for interaction with you then don't be too hard on yourself for the occasional "break".
