I am raising my granddaughter byself due to my daughters murder. I was in a wreck in the summer of 2005 and workmans comp. has recently cut me off. I have surgery schedule in a couple of months and hope to have my benefits started back after that to help me out. Recently I received a letter saying to pay my car note or they will come and pick it up, along with me being 1 month behind on my rent. Please if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. God Bless.

Call the united way helpline and they will tell you about organazations in your neighborhood that will assist you with rent. And join a church, they will likely help you with your car payment.

Call places that can help
Where I live the utility companies give you names of organizations that will help.

Here we have for housing
action housing and HUD and Catholic Charities,
There is also a weatherization program that will repair or replace
your furnace, refigerator, etc...

We also have LiHEAP, dollar energy and CAP which your utility company should tell you about programs like these.
I know people don't like people on welfare, but in your case I say go for it! You should be able to get close to 200. in foodstamps and over 100. in cash.

The Salvation Army will give you a one time voucher for clothes and they also can help you find organizations that will help you.

If you go to these places just tell them what you need, don't sound too too bad off because you don't need some do-gooder turning you in to the Child Protective Services.

You need to call around to churches in your area. Some of them do help people in certain situations. You just tell them your story and be sure to take your bills and past due letters with you. My daughter was put in the hopital with pnemonia twice and I couldn't afford it. I found a church who actually quit doing that but they helped me out anyway. Good luck!

You might want to see if you could get a temporary roommate to help out until you can get back on your feet. Sorry to hear of all your bad luck, hopefully you will find a good Samaritan that is willing to help you out. Maybe you could contact you local church to see if they could assist, you every little bit helps.
