I am already a victim of this and my question is not what the courts award but what you consider to be fair.

Most courts award 18% per child. So for 2 children that's 36% of your income. And I believe that it's gross income, not net.

Personally, I can't put a price tag on kids. If you bring children into the world, you are responsible for them. You must feed, clothe and educate them. Regardless of how you feel about the other parent, you owe it to your kids to remain civil through and after the divorce and always put the interests of the children first.

Unfortunately the courts look at your gross income. It varies from state to state. We were able to file a declaration with the court that we were in agreeance on an amount so that the courts did not have to decide.(on anything really) . I hope you are on good enough terms or have a good attorney.

All states have their own percentages that the Judge uses to determine this. Your lawyer should be able to answer that question for you.
