The beloved William Perry! This rookie sensation came on by storm in the 1984-85 season. Nicknamed "The refrigerator" by his college teamates, Perry wasn't a sackmaster by any means. As a matter of fact, he never recorded more than 5.5 sacks (1991) during his tenure with the Bears. He was the ultimate run stopper. With his huge girth, (sometimes estimated at 350lbs.), he was a immovable force in the middle.....the "anchor" of the defense you might say. While Perry would command a double team, it freed up Dent and McMichael to go after the QB.
What brought the fridge into the limelight, was coach Mike Ditka's use of Perry in short yardage, and goaline offensive plays. Perry was brought in at running back, and soon became a superstar in the league, with his mammoth touchdown plunges!

In Superbowl XX, the game was already decided with the Bears commanding 37-3 lead, and Ditka brought in his "feature running back" in the 3rd quarter, on a 1st and goal from the Patriots 1 yard line. The fridge took the handoff and plunged into the endzone, which put the 78,818 in attendance into a frenzy. Everyone loved "the fridge"!

Perry went on to play for the Bears through the 1993 season, and then in 1994 &95 for the Philadelphia Eagles. On 5/03/95, William Perry retired from the NFL.

before everything, once you have extreme powered offense vs extreme powered offense, whichever group gets the ball first will in all probability be the 1st to attain. If the Colts get the ball first, i think of Pierre Garcon will score the 1st TD. The Saints might get fairly some interceptions, yet they gamble too lots to get them. they gained't permit up on Wayne, going for double communities all evening and The backers and between the safties will drape over Dallas Clark interior the crimson zone, and that i think of Garcon would be waiting to get single coverage and score. If the Saints get the ball first, my p.c.. could be Reggie Bush. Bush has been on a roll interior the playoffs. The Colts have a smaller D that relies upon upon velocity, and the subject is Bush is swifter. to no longer point out the Colts are in all probability going to be taking part in the bypass attempting to provide up Brees, so as that could provide Bush some wiggle room.

William "The Refrigerator" Perry. The sad thing is that ball should have gone to Walter Payton. It changed my view of Ditka forever.

"Biscuit." That was the team's nickname for William Perry. When asked why, they said "Because he's just one biscuit shy of 300 pounds!"
