Ignore them. You have nothing to gain through a confrontation. You're not going to change their minds, so why start a fight? There's nothing you can say or do to get them to behave like adults.
Their ignorance will eventually come back to bite them in the butt.

If this is typical of your neighbor, I'd ignore them. Maybe make sure they know you think they're a bigot, but utterly ignore them (if it's a pattern, it's probably not one you're going to break). If they've otherwise been nice and decent people to you, you could educate them that no, it doesn't work like that. Studies have found NO difference in the frequency of gay children among gay households as opposed to heterosexual households.

You need to be prepared for remarks like that and address them as they occur. Alot of people parrot the stupid bigoted things they hear others say. Very few people actually use the mass of gray cells located in their skull. You may find an opportunity to open someone's eyes. At the very least you will let put them on notice that you will not stand by and tolerate their ignorant words.

Remember the Serenity Prayer!
God grant me the
Serenity to accept
the things I cannot
change, Courage to
change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know
the difference
In other words, you can't help it if others are ignorant and don't want to learn. Just remember your son is better than these other people and YOU raised him better no matter how he turns out. Just accept that you live near ignorance and get on with living a happy life! Good luck!

Until their statements directly impact your way of life in a negative fashion there isn't much you can do. Remember, all lawsuits require proof(physical evidence, witnesses, and so on).
One thing in particular, if the neighbor has children you might ask your son about harassment from their child/children, that might be evidence enough to possibly bring a lawsuit.

For the most part I would just let them keep living their ignorant life, but once in a while I'd stand up against the anti-gay sentiment. Otherwise you perpetuate the problem. I would attempt to do this in an intelligent way, of course, but my first response would be "Your children must be ignorant bigots, too, since they were raised in your home." Most likely, though, I would just laugh and explain that that isn't how homosexuality works.

ignore it....anything you do will only confuse and frustrate them more.
Just be yourselves, raise your son as best you can....just like you already have.
I'm convinced this is a locational problem only.
No one ever said that about my son..and he's been raised by two lesbians. He's never once been teased, bullied, harassed, threatened or harmed in any way, shape or form.

Tell them that almost all gay people were raised by straight people. So ignore them. Thier ignorance will get them exactly what they deserve inthe long run. Don't worry and enjoy your son..
I am straight and it makes me so ANGRY to see and hear about this kind of nonsense going on in front of our children.

If your neighbours gets onto the subject again, just say: "And... What's your point?" If he's prejudiced against gays, your not going to change his mind. Just let him think whatever he wants!
