You should ask her if she has a gift registry. Most mothers make them at different locations. Then, you know you can get her what she likes, or just ask her what she wants. I would stay away from baby clothes though. Most people I know get way too many newborn clothes at their baby shower, and the baby grows out of them before she gets a chance to wear them. If you see an outfit you can't resist getting for her, you should buy a larger size so you'll be sure that the baby gets to wear more than once. I didn't get hardly any 6-9 month clothes at my shower, and had to purchase my own. You can also never have to many diapers and baby wipes. I would get size 1 for the same reason you should purchase larger clothes. Pampers swaddlers are the greatest newborn baby diapers. I also wish I would have gotten a diaper pail at my shower. To this day I haven't bought one. If you are looking for something inexpensive, burp rags are good. Hope you have fun at your shower.

Depends on how much $$ you want to spend. If you want spend a little, no mother should be without a baby swing. It is the difference between sanity and insanity and will afford mom to go to the bathroom without taking the baby to the toilet with her.

Toys are always something that no one really buys for a baby shower. I'm talking about a picnic bench or a riding toy. Baby shower gifts are usually sleepers, bibs, and onesies or disposable diapers. Be different!!!

Pssst, wanna know a secret?! The all time BEST baby shower gift is a prenatal massage for the mamma! Yep, I get the best reactions for this one. Look online and find a licensed prenatal masseuse (very important that she is properly trained). They usually have different options, so just pick the one in your price range! Plus, if Mamma can't use it, most are good for a year, so she could get a regular one after baby is born.

How about a pretty item of jewellery? A silver photo frame - a silver trinket box - money box - a crockery set (you can get children's set I think they are called breakfast sets?). Name a star after the baby... Buy a tree or a rose for the parents to plant at their house (particularly good if the child has the same name as a plant...) How about a moses basket, a mobile or something practical?

I have to agree with the person that said a prenatal massage. I just had one and it was AMAZING! Maybe you could wrap up the certificate with a package of newborn diapers or a small gift like that...... I know that I would totally love it!

A spa day for the mommy to be. If you would like to be more traditional you can buy Diapers of course! Or things that they will need such as onsies, wipes, bath time stuff, clothes. First aid kit's are always in need. Hope this helps.

I think practical gifts are always best. My favorite would be the zipadee-zip, helps the baby feel cozy and sleep better and longer, therefore, it helps Mommy rest. Win win in my book ;)

forget all the frilly clothes and gadgets get a big wicker basket, fill it with diapers, wipes butt cream, bottles, etc. you get the picture, just fill it with all the things that a baby uses, all the things they sell hardly ever get used, two things that is a must have is a baby swing, and a port-a-crib.
