Is everyone a potential cheater given the right circumstances?

Is cheating an instinct in both men and women? This question is not about whether cheating is good or bad.

Everyone is a potential cheater given the right circumstances but a cheater is only a cheater when he/she goes for it. It's just like being exposed to temptation, you become potentially tempted, but not yet unless you go for it.. :-)

Some people, for moments in time, do not believe they have that potential. Some other people, believe they do not have the capacity to cheat, but a circumstance may actually trigger an attempt. Some will attempt, in the thought they can do so.

The people who can not follow through with cheating usually:

a) have the love for their husband/wife prevent them from doing so, because they will feel that they are "potentially" hurting them

b) fear that either they or the person they might cheat with could fall in love and making things very messy

Cheating is a temptation for men and women.

I believe it is an instinct in both men and women. However, I dont believe that everyone would cheat given the right circumstances. It is down to the willpower of that person as to whether they will cheat or not.

Yes, you would probably be amazed at some of your friends, who you could never imagine doing anything like that. Its human or animal instinct.

Men will take bigger risk for that quick one off high then move on. A women will cheat if there is zero risk of being caught or anyone ever finding out, the high risk part goes more against their instinct than mens.

For men its about spreading there genes.
For women it's about finding a more suitable mate for their genes.

Cheating is not instinct the lure of nature is greater, that could be what ever you perceive as a better mate, more money, nice car, bigger c****, bigger ti...., better looking, more exciting person... its all about your body trying to find the best combination to reproduce..

Yes i think everyone is a potential cheater given the right circumstances. But your not a cheater until you give into the temptation, and there lies the difference between cheaters and the rest of us! It's often the lour and excitement of secrets that makes people give into the temptation of cheating, the risk of being caught but thinking they wont be.

Yeah unfortunately.

It is not an instinct persay but is reaction that both men and women now posses. If it was an instinct everyone one would and could do it without guilt or concern. I say reaction because there is an action (the chemistry or whatever it may be) to put themselves in that situation.

I haven't personally found that situation but I won't say it could never happen.

cheating isn't the instinct -- a happier life is. sometimes, the circumstances appear to be the way to a certain happiness... sometimes in the form of cheating.

but given the right circumstances (and they're different for everyone), anyone may cheat or steal or murder.

YES!!! Absolutely, even if we don't follow through on the "cheating". We all have appetites that have to be satisfied. If you're hungry, you should have the right to satisfy yourself. It's only a man made law that people have to be restricted to one partner. That's the part of human law that I think is repressive and wrong. No one should have the right to tell someone who they can and/or can not do it with. Do what you need to do in your life and be happy. If I'm okay, you're okay.

I wouldn't say cheating is an instinct at all. It's a conscience decision to go ahead and betray your lover.

The word everyone is all inclusive. There is no such thing. I am sure there are individuals out there who do not cheat under any circumstance. If you have to ask, you are probably one of the ones who cheats.
